English Proficiency

English proficiency is the ability to speak, read and write in English. To be considered truly proficient, one should have advanced abilities in all three areas of communication. In today's globalised business environment, professionals interact with customers, vendors and colleagues from all over the world. Companies operate in a world without borders and English has become the standard language of business communication everywhere. Companies look to recruit employees with adequate English skills, and academic institutions include English language learning courses within their curriculum in order to make their graduating students internationally competitive. It is observed that candidates who scored low on English oral proficiency also scored low in English comprehension. Their difficulties included limited vocabulary knowledge and of course, lack of confidence.
English is widely regarded as one of the most difficult languages to master but it is also one of the most useful and spoken languages in the world. There are a number of different ways that you can improve your English proficiency. Reading is undoubtedly the best way to improve your English language skills. The important thing to remember when you are picking out your literature whether it is a book, newspaper or magazine, is to pick something that is on your level of understanding. There is no point in overstretching yourself too soon as you may well lose interest. You will have absolutely no problem finding some excellent English grammar books that will not only help you to improve your proficiency but also your ability to string together sentences. Whenever you come across any words that you are unsure of pick up a dictionary and absorb the meaning, this will really help to speed up your learning. Engaging in conversation with English speakers is a fantastic way to improve your skills; this is especially useful if you have friends or family that can point out any errors that you may be making. It may sound strange but watching television can actually be a great help to your English proficiency. There are interesting television programs and they can be a great way to listen to the correct way that words should be pronounced so that you can then practice them yourself.
Improving your proficiency in any foreign language is something that you could work on the entirety of your life. When it comes to English, the best way to improve your proficiency is to make sure your foundation and understanding in all grammar concepts is more or less secure and then to work on using the language as much as possible. The more proficient your English is the more doors that can open for you in your career and life.

How to Avoid Negative Marking in Bank Exams?

We all know the saying "practice makes a man perfect" and the same goes for the examination. Preparation and practice goes hand in hand. First priority should be given to the preparation of the entrance examination. This will build the platform on which practice as a tool will make you acquaintance with the pattern of the question. By this a student will also identify his or her weak lings and will check every time when they will face such questions. If an aspirant is able to gather such attributes and make it his own abilities then negative marking will surely avoid his pathway to success.
Practice There is a common saying ‘Practice makes a person perfect’. So the more you practice, the more you become trained in avoiding silly mistakes & in turn help in reducing negative marking. Most of the bank exams have 120-150 questions which are to be solved in approx. 3 hours. So you must try to solve in short cut methods & try to develop easy problem skills so that time is saved.
Short notes preparation Try to prepare notes of important formulae, theorems etc. This will help to have a look before the exam as going through the book is difficult at that time.
Analyze the question paper – Before starting to solve the question paper, analyze it carefully in 10 mins as this will give you a rough idea about what type of questions are there & you can manage the time accordingly.
Cool & Calm rule Be cool & calm in the examination hall. If you are anxious & tensed, stressed, chances of attempting the question paper wrongly are very much. This will lead to negative marking.
Answer the sure shot questions Firstly answer only those questions for which you are very confident about. Sticking on questions will lead to confusion & time wastage.
No guessing Do not guess the answer until you are sure. Guessing often leads to wrong attempt.
No erasing or overwriting- Mostly in all the bank exams, OMR answer sheets are used. This OMR sheets are checked by computer, so improper erasing or overwriting will be considered as wrong.

Data Sufficiency

Data sufficiency questions are probably not like any test problem you've encountered before. They don't ask you to answer the question. Instead, they ask you to determine whether or not you can answer the question with the information given. Every data sufficiency question should be answered by continuing with the same technique. Simply by determining the sufficiency of just one statement, you should be able to eliminate approximately half of the answer choices. That way, you should be able to avoid completely random guessing on data sufficiency questions.
A data sufficiency question has a question followed by two statements. you will be expected to answer if the information provided in the statements is sufficient to answer the question.
You answer will be
Choice 1 if the question can be answered using one of the statements alone, while the other statement is not sufficient to answer the question.
Choice 2 if the question can be answered using each of the statements independently
Choice 3 if both the statements together are needed to answer the question
Choice 4 if both the statements independently or taken together are not sufficient to answer the question
Please be careful to read the instructions before the data sufficiency questions.
Some probable mistakes can be avoided
1) To be more specific, please do read the instructions for Data Sufficiency (DS) very carefully.

Many people have suffered here. Hope we don’t repeat it this time.

2) Read the instructions on the front page carefully. Don’t ignore them.

Data sufficiency questions to test your ability to "reason quantitatively." This stands in sharp contrast to the problem solving section, which is designed to test how well you manipulate numbers. If you find yourself doing a lot of number crunching on the data sufficiency questions, you are doing something wrong.
Math Concepts You Should Know
The data sufficiency questions cover math that nearly any college-bound high school student will know. In addition to basic arithmetic, you can expect questions testing your knowledge of averages, fractions, decimals, algebra, factoring, and basic principles of geometry such as triangles, circles, and how to determine the areas and volumes of simple geometric shapes.

Avoid Distraction While Studying

Most of the students are astonished to know that learning is not easily absorbed by the brain. This is the belief that most of the adults cherish by assuming that brain’s only purpose is to learn and therefore expect that their children should be capable of learning in a faster pace. The actual reality is that the main purpose of the brain is to guarantee the survival of the learning. The best way to help our brain in remembering the boring stuff requires you to give some extra help to your brain by removing the necessary distractions that may arise in your studies. The human brain focuses on a single thing at a time. So, here are a few tips that can help you to eliminate distractions while you study.
    Tips for eliminating possible distractions:
1. Make your own study area: It is you who has to decide the best possible place away from all the distractions for studies.  If your study area is close to a window, then you may get distracted at the sight that you see through the window. If you keep your visual field confined to education then you can have a better focus.
2. You can play instrumental music if you wish but without the words: Instrumental music can ease your stress and provide you a better learning environment. But one has to see that the instrumental music is not associated with the words of the song else you will end up humming the same and distract yourself from the studies.
3. Plan your study schedule and time: Choose the best time that can help you in retaining the information. You have to make a study schedule based on the said time frame and continue studying consistently. Stock your study area with all the educational supplies that you need to study along with a water bottle.
4. Studying on PC? Face your screen towards the family area: When you face your screen towards the family area, then you will automatically avoid possibly entering and wandering your head into your world of cyber technology and focus on your studies.
5. You can also include your family in deciding upon the removal of possible study distractions: Turn off your phones and ask you family members to co-operate in this task of yours.
6] Cell phone is the kryptonite of studies. One message or call will take your mind completely off of studies and your focus won’t be back until you check who the person is. The best way to avoid this problem is to put your cell phone on silent (Not even vibration), and turn its face down.  It might seem drastic, but even the slightest beep or light will ruin your studies.
You may feel that this distraction free routine is extremely difficult to establish but with proper planning and effort you will automatically be able to focus on your studies and avoid possible distractions.
Determination is one of the key factors when it comes to bank exam preparation. Strong determination will help you to remain focused on the exams and eventually it will help you to achieve your goals.
